Why Ritual Beats a Relaxing Hour

The philosophy and the people behind Co of Manchester's structured approach to spa and wellness.

Founded on a Structural Principle

Co of Manchester was established in 2019 by a small team of therapists who had each spent years working in larger spa environments and grown frustrated by the same problem: clients would arrive monthly, leave satisfied, and return a month later in exactly the same state. The work wasn't accumulating. The studio was founded specifically to solve this — by introducing structured protocols, mandatory intake assessments, and a session-note system that makes every appointment aware of the last. The ink-blue and warm-white interior of our Sankt Pölten studio was designed to reflect this same discipline: calm, uncluttered, and focused entirely on the work rather than the atmosphere.

Small on Purpose

We operate with a deliberately small team of four senior therapists, each specialised in one of our four treatment disciplines. We do not use junior staff or rotating freelancers. Every therapist at Co of Manchester holds a minimum of 600 hours of post-qualification clinical practice and attends at least two structured CPD courses per year. This limits our capacity — we typically have a 5–10 day lead time for appointments — but it guarantees that you will always see a therapist who knows your treatment history and applies a consistent, high-standard protocol. We would rather turn away bookings than dilute the quality of the ritual.

Our Commitments

Four things we hold ourselves to, regardless of how busy the studio gets.

Intake on Every Visit

No session begins without a 10–15 minute intake check. Even for long-standing clients, we reassess presenting state, recent changes in health, activity, or stress levels before confirming the day's protocol. This is non-negotiable and is factored into every booking duration.

Written Session Notes

Every client receives a brief written note after each session — what was observed, what was treated, and what to monitor before the next appointment. These notes travel with you across your entire treatment history at Co and are available on request at any time.

Senior Therapists Only

All four Co of Manchester therapists hold advanced certifications and a minimum 600 post-qualification clinical hours. CPD attendance is mandatory, not optional. When you book at Co, you know exactly the standard of practitioner you'll see.

Austrian-Sourced Formulations

Where possible, we use skincare and body product formulations sourced from Austrian producers — including Alpine botanical extracts, mountain spring water bases, and regional mineral compounds. Provenance matters to us because it matters to the skin.

“I specifically chose Co of Manchester because of the intake system. I have a complex skin history and have been burned before by therapists who skipped the assessment and made things worse. Here, the intake is thorough, the notes are kept, and every session feels connected to the one before. After eight months I feel genuinely looked after, not just serviced.”

Questions About Our Approach

Do I need to book in advance, or can I walk in?

All appointments must be booked in advance. We do not accept walk-in clients, as every session requires a pre-prepared intake form and therapist assignment. Our current lead time is typically 5–10 days, though cancellations do occasionally open earlier slots — contact us directly if you need an urgent booking.

What should I expect at my first intake assessment?

Your first intake will run approximately 15 minutes and covers your health history, current presenting concerns (musculoskeletal, skin, or general wellness), any contraindications, and your goals for the treatment. We use these notes to assign the most appropriate protocol and therapist for your first session. You'll receive a summary by email within 24 hours.

Can I choose which therapist I see?

Yes — once you've had an initial session you're welcome to request a specific therapist, subject to their availability. For first-time clients, we assign the therapist whose specialisation best matches your presenting concerns. All Co therapists share your session notes, so continuity of care is maintained even if your usual therapist is unavailable.

Are your products suitable for sensitive or allergy-prone skin?

We formulate our facial treatment protocols around your individual skin profile, and all product ingredients are disclosed at intake. Clients with known allergies or sensitisations should note these on their intake form. Our Sensitive-Skin Reset protocol specifically avoids active acids, fragrance, and high-stimulus botanicals, and is our most common recommendation for reactive skin types.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes. Gift vouchers are available for any individual treatment or for a monetary value redeemable against any service. Vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase and are non-refundable but transferable. Physical and digital versions available — enquire via email for postal delivery options.
